Photoraphy Biography

My passion for photography started at an early age. Growing up in Phoenix, AZ, I’d often get in trouble when my parents would get the family camera back, only to find that 7yo me had borrowed it to play photographer.

Like most teens, I started plastering my walls with posters, magazine covers and clippings of the band who I claim as my inspiration to become a photographer—The Queen of Rock, Courtney Love. Even today, some of those posters are in my studio.

In high school, I was lucky enough to get into photography courses right away and was soon organizing fashion shoots (published in national zines such as Mind’s Eye) and spent many evenings sneaking to the front row (and backstage) to capture and befriend such artists as Green Day, Eminem, Moby, Stone Temple Pilots, and Weezer.

After attending AIU in London, I assisted renowned fashion photographer Jon Gray, most notably on the bestselling book The Complete Guide to Beauty & Glamour Photography. Working with Jon, I developed my unique style of lighting and model posing on a varity of locations around the world.

In London, I flourished and enjoyed honing my experience and skills. Soon my talents were in demand, as I was brought in to retouch photos of international campaigns for L’Oreal, Estée Lauder, Rolex, Cartier, Selfridges, Sotheby’s, Gap and Gucci. I built a strong client base ranging from music and lifestyle magazines (Dazed & Confused, Gay Times, Mixmag, XY, Attitude), bands and artists (Right Said Fred, QBoy) and corporate clients (National Westminster Bank of England). While all this was happening I was a visiting instructor for Fashion and Advertising Photography at AIU.

I left London after 5 years to head to Los Angeles, where I launched Qr Magazine, serving as Art Director and photographer, continuing my passion of freelance photography, this time capturing Los Angeles life, ranging from Orange County divorcees to hip-hop stars (I even traveled on-the-road with the muchpublicized Homo Revolution Tour, the first of it’s kind, over 20 gay hip-hop acts traveling the US).

Now in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I am working on my first photography book based on longtime subject and rapper QBoy (whom I met on my first magazine spread) between shoots with a variety of celebrities. (Salt-N-Pepa, Wendy Williams, Queen Pen, Pretty Ricky, Sweet Tee) New York is providing me opportunities off a lifetime, helping me in my pursuit of becoming a top music photographer—and even closer to my dream job of photographing portraits of Courtney Love.

Design Biography

I have been honing my craft of graphic and web design development and marketing for the past 10 years. Helping business gain customers, bands find fans and a whole spectrum of sites with various services.

My generation was the first to enjoy web and graphic design courses. I rushed to learn new media, moving to London to pursue my degree in Visual Communications. Right out of AIU London, I was hired at a lead design house, Sky Photographic, utilizing my graphic design skills on international campaigns, in the evening I would develop sites for new clients.

After 5 years in London I moved to LA, where I launched Qr Magazine, serving as Art Director and photographer where many of my days were spent laying out and creating content for it’s pages.

I am now based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where I continue to further my work as a web designer for clients including Gregory & Seeley opticians, Grammy Award-winning rapper, Queen Pen, and one of my childhood heroes, artist Jill Emery.
